“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.”
- Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics
Through this program, we attempt to reinforce the theoretical knowledge that students gain through lectures and books with relevant hands-on activities. Learning by doing also helps students realize the challenges involved in applying theory to practical problems.
The Let's Do workshops are typically half a day long. Besides learning concepts related to the topic, students perform experiments, solve problems, design models, fix/build things, and so on.
These workshops are meant for students in grades 6 to 9.
Topics for Let's Do events to be conducted in schools can be worked out based on the interests and needs of the students. Please get in touch with us at support@doolurn.com or +91 94438 91632 to discuss possibilities.
Examples of our workshop topics are:
- Electric Train
- Explore ideas in Electricity and Magnetism by building tiny fascinating trains that zip away all by themselves.
- Paper Airplanes
- What better way to learn how airplanes fly than by making your own paper planes and controlling their flight.
- Balancing Toys
- Make simple balancing toys. You'll be surprised by the number of concepts involved such as center of gravity, symmetry and equilibrium.
- Moving Toys
- Toys can be made to spin, roll, jump, etc. using different methods. Investigate techniques by making your own moving toys.
- Simple Machines
- Experiment with common simple machines, learn how they work, and measure their mechanical advantage and efficiency.
- Astronomy
- Unravel some of the mysteries of our universe through a multitude of fun activities. Topics include light, eclipses, gravity, orbits, seasons, lunar phases, craters, etc.
